The establishment to meet the town’s longterm cultural and educational demands was built in 1976 based on a design by MÁVTI. Designer: András Takács.
In the last 50 years, the building has seen a number of interior and functional changes. The cultural practices and the places of education have altered, the community network has gained more significance and profoundly changed the establishment’s interior spaces.
The cultural centre is 3,900 m2 large, not counting the interior courtyard, and represents the high architectural aspirations and engineering standards of the 1970s. The preservation of these values is the primary objective, however, modernisation is urgent. This is the objective that the comprehensive architectural and engineering design study aims to meet.
